IESODO (Jesus)
The Dove is a Christian symbol throughout the New Testament. IESODO is the leader of our group of characters. He’s particularly wise and insightful.
Rocky (Peter)
ROCKY is a Bulbul Bird, a mediumsized songbird found all over the Middle East, known mostly for their “chatter.” He’s olive brown with a distinct crest. Rocky is our Narrator filling in the gaps between actions and keeping us up with the latest developments. Rocky speaks with a distinctive, slightly raspy voice, without an accent.
Tom (Thomas)
TOM is a small KINGFISHER, a common, yet colorful bird who stays along the shore. He has a large head, short legs and stubby tail – cautious, but always goes along with the group. He speaks in a somewhat excitable Indian accent.
He of ten times finds himself in strange situations – like hanging upside down on his branch, or getting involved in some wacky adventure.
Jacob & Jack (John & James)
JACOB and JACK are bickering bothers...A comic duo who never seem to see eye to eye. As Pelicans, they are “fishermen” in the truest sense of the word.
Barry (Paul)
BARRY is a HOOPOE, the state bird of Israel with a distinctive “crown” of feathers. Hoopoe’s generally remain in a flock and can be very confrontational, opinionated, and conformists. Barry is uniquely independent and is a devoted follower of IESODO. Barry is the oldest and most educated of the group, he wears makeshift eyeglasses and talks with a British accent.
Maggie (Mary Magdelene)
MAGGIE is a pretty Palestine Sunbird. She looks almost like a hummingbird, fast, attractive, pretty, with various calls and comments. She is kind and active, always ready to help IESODO or anyone else. Her accent is slightly Middle Eastern, while her attitude is always one of kindness and helping others.
The Setting
Our series takes place in the Holy Land. It captures the amazing topography of this ancient land – the sky, the land and water.
The Cypress Tree
The Cypress Tree is home to our characters and is located along the North Shore of a lake (Sea of Galilee). This area of shoreline is only accessible to our animals and their stories. The Cypress Tree looks pretty much like any other Cypress until you take a closer look...
The Secret Life of the Cypress
The interior of the Cypress Tree is designed to have a warm and unique feel – each of our Main Characters has their own area or nest where they perch. Except of course for IESODO, who uses various branches and landing areas. The Pelican Brothers (Jacob and Jack) live in nests at the bottom of the tree near the water.
